Benny justru mempertanyakan dengan bahasa daerah kita? Hanya terbatas yang tahu dan kalau tidak dilestarikan akan punah. Oleh sebab itu kata Benny perlu upaya semua pihak baik oleh pemerintah melalui kebijakan Dinas Pendidikan dengan berbasis Muatan Lokal (Mulok) maupun pengadaan kamus dan bahan ajar serta guru pengajarnya.
“Peran tokoh masyarakat dan tokoh pendidikan serta tokoh budaya juga sangat diperlukan untuk menumbuhkan kesadaran arti pentingnya bahasa daerah” kata Benny.
Ketua Yayasan Institut Seni Budaya Sulawesi Utara ini memberik contoh sederhana, mestinya dibuat lomba pidato dan menulis bahasa daerah, wajib bahasa daerah pada hari tertentu di sekolah. Begitu juga sambutan Hukum Tua dengan menggunakan bahasa daerah.
“Ini artinya kita membangkitkan budaya atas keperdulian bahasa daerah ditengah anak cucu kita. Bahasa ini adalah alat pemersatu dimanapun kita berada dan perlu berikan penghargaan buat keluarga yang masih gunakan bahasa daerah sehari hari” kata Benny.
Kepada Koran Trilogi mantan Deputi Pemberantasan Narkotik BNN ini mengatakan pihak yayasannya yang terbitkan dan yang inisiasi membentuk Tim penyusun kamus termasuk dirinya juga, Dan sejumlah kamus bahasa daerah sudah masuk edisi ke empat.
Menurut Benny kamus pertama bahasa Tontemboan Minahasa telah diluncurkan di acara Dies Natalis FIB Universitas Indonesia (UI)di Depok. Karena kebetulan kata Benny dirinya sebagai Ketua Panitia Bidang Budaya. Semua anggota Tim ikut hadir dari Manado. Diluncurkan di dpn para Guru Besar FIB UI.
