Terpisah tokoh Kawanua Sulawesi Utara Max Wilar mengatakan manusia berbahasa ibarat burung bersayap (George H. Lewis). Menurut Wilar bahasa daerah laksana sayap yang kita miliki pada mulanya untuk ziarah ke adab dan peradaban si tou timou tumou tou.
“Bila kita melupakan bahasa daerah yang pada mulanya adalah bahasa Ibu, maka kita kehilangan sayap dan ibu sekaligus. Perlu sekali bahasa daerah diajarkan untuk generasi Tou Minahasa jangan sampai punah didaerahnya sendiri” kata Max Wilar.
Dari pengamatan Koran Trilogi saat berkunjung ke Langowan Minahasa tidak terdengar bahasa daerah Tontemboan. Bahkan ketika ditanyakan beberapa keluarga, mereka menyatakan sudah jarang diucapkan meskipun saat berada diacara kerukunan. Yang justru masih terdengar bahasa Gorontalo dan bahasa Jawa bagi warga pendatang yang memiliki usaha dan bermukim di daerah ini.
