Dahulu masyarakat yang memiliki kendaraan bermotor setiap tahunnya akan direpotkan dengan pengurusan perpanjangan surat tanda nomor kendaraan (STNK) dengan mendatangi kantor sistem administrasi manunggal satu atap (SAMSAT).
Namun kini pengurusan perpanjangan STNK tidak lagi merepotkan, karena pelayanan pembayaran pajak dapat dilakukan melalui transaksi elektronik, sehingga tidak perlu lagi mengorbankan waktu untuk mendatangi kantor Samsat, mengantri berjam-jam, serta dapat menghindari calo yang menawarkan pengurusan STNK dengan meminta bayaran tinggi.
Pemerintah Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah terus memperbaiki layanan publik khususnya mekanisme pembayaran pajak dengan membuat aplikasi android untuk mengecek pembayaran pajak dan bisa langsung dibayar melalui android atau ke anjungan tunai mandiri (ATM).
Hal ini ditandai dengan penandatanganan nota kesepahaman antara Gubernur Sulawesi Tengah Longki Djanggola dengan Kepala Kepolisian Republik Indonesia, Kementerian Dalam Negeri dan PT Jasa Raharja di Ruang Kerja Gubernur, Senin 15 Juli 2019.
Kepala Seksi STNK Ditlantas Polda Sulteng AKP Muh Fadhlan SH SIK dalam keterangannya menjelaskan penandatanganan nota kesepahaman dimaksudkan untuk memberikan kemudahan kepada para wajib pajak kendaraan bermotor khususnya di Sulawesi Tengah.
Kemudahan dimaksud karena para wajib pajak kendaraan bermotor bisa langsung mengecek jumlah yang harus dibayarkan melalui ponsel dengan cara mendownloadnya pada playstore pada aplikasi cek pajak kendaraan Indonesia.
